Don't Miss! Suffragist in Every Town & County
City of Rochester Historian Christine L. Ridarsky will provide an overview of the woman suffrage movement as it played out in New York State from 1848 to 1917. By exploring the wide variety of rhetorical and tactical strategies employed by women throughout the long campaign, Ridarsky will reveal the complexity of the process and the significant role played by women at all levels of the movement. LYONS HERITAGE SOCIETY TO HOST SUFFRAGE TEA PARTY
Lyons Heritage Society is hosting a Suffrage Centennial Tea Party on Saturday, June 10, from 2 to 4 p.m. to celebrate women’s right to vote in New York State. Tea and scones will be served as well as Victorian sandwiches at the Grace Episcopal Parish House on the corner of Route 14 and Lawrence Street in Lyons. Period dress (circa 1917) is welcomed with purple, white, and gold as the traditional suffragette colors.
A variety of sandwiches, desserts, and teas will be served. Tickets, at $10 per person, must be reserved by calling Carol at (315) 359-0698. They will be available for pick-up at the door. All are welcome!
