Good News for Sodus Bay Lighthouse Museum!! Pomeroy Foundation Grant Funding Available!!

Dear Museum Supporter,

We have some good news to share! We do need your support to make that good news come to fruition.  Last week, we received notification that the Sodus Bay Lighthouse Museum was one of the history-based New York State organizations selected to receive a grant from the Pomeroy Fund for NYS History, based on the grant application we submitted.

The bottom line is this. If we can raise up to $6,000 in new donations by October 1, the Pomeroy Foundation will provide a grant up to $3,000. That’s a lot of money for us to raise in a short time, so we need help from everyone who is able to do so. Based on the past generous response from our membership and business sponsors, we are hopeful that we can earn the maximum grant. With the big loss of revenue this year from needing to cancel our season’s events, we need all the help we can get so that we can continue to support our operation and prepare to open next season with new online sharing capabilities, refreshed exhibits, expanded gift shop, and more interior space devoted to exhibits.

We have been the best attended tourist attraction in Wayne County for many years, and we intend to return to annually attracting over 20,000 visitors who contribute greatly to the local economy.

Our Lighthouse Museum building may be closed, but our Board of Trustees and our committed volunteers are all working hard to keep our light shining brightly, and our beautiful grounds and gardens in great shape, with many daily visitors enjoying the fantastic lake views from our small hill.

Please help us obtain the maximum amount from this much-needed grant opportunity. Donate here, or send a check to the Lighthouse Museum address at the bottom of this letter. Donations must be received before the October 1 deadline.

Thanks so much for helping!
