Volunteer Info
The basic functions and services of the Museum require volunteer help in greeting visitors and showing them through the Museum, operating the gift shop, providing the gardening services for our flowers and shrubs, and helping with the food services at our weekly Sunday concerts during the summer. These staffing requirements are a challenge to the membership and volunteer managers of each of the functions. Each year more of our members join our group of volunteers, which now numbers more than 200, to provide a most successful and popular Museum operation in Wayne County.
Beyond these seasonal volunteer jobs, there are areas where help is needed in the planning and implementation of long range Museum projects. Our volunteers in these areas contribute their skills to constructing new displays, researching historical facts associated with local history, writing articles for and assembling our informative newsletter, arranging and scheduling the programs for events, writing publicity releases, and helping in the day to day office tasks and secretarial functions of the organization. Almost any skills, in which our members are experienced, are applicable to the our needs and projects.

Things to help with: plant, hoe, weed, trim, clip, dig, caulk, glaze, paint, scrub, scrape, polish, sweep, rake, nail, sand, wire, file, type, organize, greet, meet, photograph, write, type, draw, guide, lead tours, help with school group tours, create quizzes, games, set up chairs, tents, BBQ, Pop corn, sell (and eat) ice cream sundaes, concert set up, direct parking, help with 5K run, Kiddie parades, Art & Craft Show help, catalog, iron, dust, gift shop help, have fun and learn something about the lighthouse and history!
