D. Russell Chamberlain Maritime Library

On the Second floor of the Museum is a small, but growing library of historic books, charts, maps, audio and video tapes,  periodicals, essays and manuscripts pertaining to various historical aspects of the Sodus Bay area and people.

The library is dedicated by the late Mr. Dwight Chamberlain, formerly of Scottsburg, Indiana, to the memory of his father Mr. D. Russell Chamberlain in recognition of his keen interest in the research and preservation of history. The younger Mr. Chamberlain continues to honor the memory and interests of his father by his generous endowment in support of both the D. Russell Chamberlain Maritime Library and first floor D. Russell Chamberlain Exhibit room. The SBHS remains gratefully indebted to both men and their families.

Operating Hours

The use of the library is restricted to SBHS membership, companion societies and those seeking genuine research reference materials.
